Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is the only national nonprofit organization taking a non-partisan, holistic, public health approach to ending the gun violence epidemic. SHP was founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
SHP’s Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (ARS) has opened a compelling window into the preventative impact of SHP’s Know the Signs programs. Since the launch of this program in 2018, SHP has confirmed over 5,900 mental health interventions, 700 youth suicides prevented, and 302 acts of school violence averted- - including now 17 credible school shooting plots.
